This savory twist on French toast combines the indulgent flavors of a Big Mac with the comforting texture of crispy, golden bread. With layers of beef, cheese, and toppings, it’s a crowd-pleasing dish for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Even picky eaters will love it!

Ingredients

For the French Toast:

  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 slices sandwich bread
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Pinch of sesame seeds

For the Patties:

  • 2 cups ground beef (burger mince)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Additional Ingredients:

  • 4 slices American-style cheese
  • Burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Pickle slices

Instructions

1. Prepare the French Toast:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides, and place in the skillet. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  4. Sprinkle sesame seeds on one slice of bread while it’s still hot. Place a slice of cheese on the other two slices while they’re warm to allow it to melt slightly. Set aside.

2. Make the Burger Patties:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two portions and shape into large, square patties (roughly the size of the bread slices).
  2. Heat the skillet with a teaspoon of oil over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

3. Assemble the Big Mac French Toast:

  1. Place one slice of French toast with melted cheese on a plate (cheese side up).
    • Add a layer of burger sauce, followed by diced onion, shredded lettuce, and the first beef patty.
    • Top with a few pickle slices.
  2. Place the second slice of French toast with melted cheese on top and repeat: burger sauce, onion, lettuce, and pickles. Add the second beef patty.
  3. Top with the sesame seed French toast slice to complete the stack.
