Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie

Ingredients:

  • Crust:
    • 1 box Pillsbury ready-to-bake pie crust (2 rolled pie crusts)
  • Filling:
    • 1/2 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 pound Italian sausage (optional)
    • 1 cup pepperoni slices
    • 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce or marinara
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
    • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing the top crust)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Meat:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned.
    • Drain excess fat and set the meat mixture aside.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Assemble the Pie:
    • Roll out one pie crust and press it into a deep-dish pie pan or a deep skillet.
    • Layer the bottom with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
    • Add a layer of the cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni slices.
    • Evenly pour the pizza sauce over the meat mixture. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    • Top with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar or provolone cheese. Add another layer of pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
  4. Seal the Pie:
    • Roll out the second pie crust and carefully place it over the filling. Seal the edges by pinching or crimping them.
    • Brush the top crust with melted butter and sprinkle with a little garlic powder for extra flavor.
  5. Bake the Pie:
    • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
